According to government information: "Much of this parcel
is classified as a Class 1 wetland. A stream runs through the
wetland, flowing out of Puslinch. This property is not signed,
however, there are several small walking trails throughout the pine
plantation and around the wetland. The property is suitable for
hiking and bird watching."
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ACCESS THIS CACHE FROM HIGHWAY 401.
Parking (likely only enough for 1 vehicle) and the trailhead is
located off Wellington Road 32, at N43 25.388 W80 16.250. From
here, follow the trail to this location N43 25.540 W80 16.172. Here
you will find the trail splits. The cache can be reached from
either way, as the trail makes a loop. Until you are within 50m of
the cache keep to the trail. The last 50m will require only light
bushwacking.
THE CATCH: The terrain rating for the cache will vary seasonally,
depending on how much water (and bugs) you will need to contend
with. If conditions are good, likely a 1.5 terrain rating would be
enough, but if they are bad, the rating could be up to 3.5. Unless
it is very cold or very dry parts of the trail will likely be VERY
wet, so come appropriately prepared! The cache was placed in
January with temperatures around -15C, so there were no bugs and I
managed to get in and out without getting wet feet. I suspect that
the environment will be very different in June.
NOTE: It is apparent that this area is used for hunting, so extra
care should be taken during hunting
season.
