Geocache Description:

A lunchtime (12:00 - 14:00) mini-event at:

The Prince Of Wales, 73 Church Way, Iffley, Oxford, OX4 4EF

In Ghanaian slang, an "afternoon jump" means an unauthorised absence from work, such as at a bar. Come jumping on this leap-day, and then have a look for some of the local plastic pots and boxes. I believe there are one or two caches in the general area.

The Prince of Wales has a fairly standard range of lunchtime pub grub: baked potatoes, baguettes, burgers, all day breakfasts, steaks, vegetarian options and the all-important cheesy chips. If you could indicate in your attendance logs if you're going to be eating I can pre-warn them of the unexpected demand particularly if numbers get large.

This is my first event of any kind, so I thought I should stick to what I know. This pub is chosen to be easily reachable by the organiser, and a location equally suitable I hope for both car-based and self-propelled cachers. I thought it might draw people who work in Oxford but are usually too busy to go out of town for an event. This might be the first of others, if it's a success (and I'm undetected), but as Leonard Sachs used to say, that depends on "chiefly yourselves"!

The pub is dog-friendly, but apparently there are two resident dogs which need to be suitably imprisoned if any guest dogs attend - please let me know if you intend bringing your geo-hound, and I'll tell the pub.

There is parking for about a dozen cars, and I think extra parking can easily be found in the village.

Public Transport: Number 3 or 4 bus from the City Centre (Queen Street, number 4 passes close by the railway station (Frideswide Square)) to Iffley Turn (every 10 mins)

Walking or cycling from the city centre/railway station: Along the Thames towpath is nice.

This page will be updated and prettified as the event gets nearer - pop it on your watchlist to keep up to date - all significant updates will be flagged up by notes from me.
