Geocache Description:

The Big South Fork Canyon is a 500-foot canyon carved through the Cumberland Plateau. Follow signs to the Bearcreek overlook. You will have to take the small hike up the trail to the overlook.

A canyon (rarely cañon) or gorge is a deep valley between cliffs often carved from the landscape by a river. Most canyons were formed by a process of long-time erosion from a plateau level. The cliffs form because harder rock strata that are resistant to erosion and weathering remain exposed on the valley walls. Canyons are much more common in arid areas than in wetter areas because weathering has a lesser effect in arid zones. Canyon walls are often formed of resistant sandstones or granite

Send answers to the questions below to my profile:(1 and 2)

1. Read the sign at the overlook, how many miles of navigable river are there?(Currently the sign is not there so you can skip this one)
2. Estimate how far it is to the other side of the canyon.
3. Take a photo of you and your GPS at the location
