Geocache Description:

Cache is NOT at the listed coordinates. There is no need to go there. You must solve the puzzle below to get the coordinates of the cache.

Elements: Fire

This cache is part of a caching series. The four Elements caches (Air, Earth, Fire, and Water) are stand alone puzzle caches. But, in order to find the Elements: Final cache you must first find all four of the other caches (click on the picture below to link to the cache listings). On the log sheet in each cache will be a keyword. Make sure you write down these keywords because all four of them will be needed for the final!

The local fire department was very proud of their new electronic reporting device. When a fire was reported, the 911 dispatcher would enter the location in their computer. This location would be encoded in a simple binary code (with A being the 00000001, B being 00000010, and so on up to Z being 00011010). This binary code would be sent to a computer at the fire station which would decode the location and print it out.

Unfortunately, there was an incident where a strong storm hit just as a fire's location was sent to the station. This caused a complete loss of communication. It also caused the binary code to be corrupted. All of the leading zeroes on each letter were lost. The computer could therefore not decode the location.

The following is what the computer printed out. You need to decode the location and go there (the cache is there) to help put out the fire.

Cache was relocated on 4-25-09. The puzzle above and the geochecker reflect the new location. If you have the old coords, subtract .009 from the North and subtract .024 from the West.
