Geocache Description:

Located in Wild Life Management. A short walk on woods road and in semi brushy area. Find the dike and walk on it.

Cache is a 3/4 x 1.5 plastic container with screw on lid.

Cache is about 3 feet off the ground.
The name refers to the dam that was here in the stream to the right of the cache. The stream is McNeals Branch. The ditch that crosses the stream extends from route 49 through the woods to the old Aetna Furnace. I do not know its purpose but I would guess it was to supply water to the furnace. If you look in the stream bed you will see timbers for the base of the dam or spillway. McNeals Branch empties into the Tuckahoe River just above the Aetna Furnace.
At the dam site is a favorite spot to catch Herring in the spring. Cachers have not been replacing back to original spot. Please return as found. Enjoy the area. P-Pop
