Geocache Description:

This is an easy cache to find. It is a medium sized cache lock and lock that I won at the last Pie Factory get together. Thank you Ginger! There is an area just west of the cache to park and then it is a short walk to the cache (less than 20 feet or so). There is a lot of traffic on this road so use caution.

This cache is called "the Nun’s Habit" not because of what they wear but a habit that a group of nuns had. Years ago when I was a State Trooper there were a group of nuns that used to stop in the middle of Hazel Bluff road to pick walnuts. I would invariably get a call from the post commander to go and arrest them for blocking traffic. Me still remembering what it felt like to get my knuckles raped by a nun with a metal edged ruler felt caught in the middle! On one side the Lt. who wanted them clapped in irons and on the other was a group of poor nuns just trying to harvest a few walnuts.

It seems that these nuns were from St. Mary’s of the Woods and this was like an outing to them. I would go and try to explain that there car was blocking the road but all I would get was a stern look and one would say we won’t be long. I eve moved there car out of the center of the road and set there with my red lights on to make sure they didn’t get hit.

Anyway, the walnut trees are gone but the stumps are not. I would guess that the nuns are also gone (or at least buying their walnuts somewhere). Anyway in memory of those days when the walnut trees gave so willingly and I was such a nice guy; I give you “The Nun’s Habit.”
