Geocache Description:

This traditional hide is located in Woodward Park in Camden, SC. It is hidden along the Frisbee golf course, near a wet area. Dogs are welcome here but must be kept on leash.

The organ-pipe dauber constructs its nest under the eaves of buildings and bridges, using collected mud to build tube-like structures. The dauber is relative harmless and aren’t known to be aggressive like their cousins, the paper wasps, unless you’re a spider. The mud dauber will catch and trap live spiders in the nest-tube, prior to laying its eggs and closing off the structure. This provides a first meal for its hatchlings before they dig out of the mud tube and fly off.

Not completely harmless, mud daubers are considered an aviation hazard because of the dirt nests they build in engines and intakes of aircraft. Potentially causing damage to components at critical times, when they dislodge.

This cache is a small plastic jar that contains a few trade items and a log book. There’s no room for a pen so bring your own. The tree cover is heavy and the ground is improved trail except in the immediate search area. Although located in a remote section of the park, there still may be muggles playing through, to contend with. There may be mud in the area after a hard rain.
