Geocache Description:

Almö

Almö består till stora delar av ett naturreservat. Mitt på detta finns ett gammalt fundament till ett sjömärke som för den modiga kan användas som utkikstorn ;-)

Reservatet består av för Blekinges kustbygd karakteristiskt enbusklandskap, ett resultat av betesdrift i förening med hård skogsavverkning.

Almö stod i rampljuset 1984. Under hela februari månad bedrev den svenska flottan ubåtsjakt i Karlskrona området. Den 29 februari såg två värnpliktiga som var posterade på Almö en dykare som kom ur vattnet och passerade över ön. Denna händelse ingick i den så kallade Karlskrona 2 incidenten och kom att bli den längsta och mest omfattande operationen mot främmande undervattensverksamhet som det svenska försvaret hittills gjort.
