Geocache Description:

THIS CACHE IS NOWHERE NEAR THE ABOVE COORDINATES.

We love mystery caches and this is our first attempt at writing one. We hope you enjoy it. We thank Kostia for her help and the original idea.

Susan and Ron have several hobbies and one involves visiting lighthouses around the country. We have learned much about the technology of these sentinels, from the hauling of oil to the top of the lighthouse by hand to the only US lighthouse with an elevator.

This puzzle is not about height, number of steps or the outside painting of lighthouses (day marks). It focuses on equipment and Florida lighthouses of the past and the present. It uses the original installations. Good luck.

The location of the cache can be found at the following:

N 27. EB. 98A
W 082. BF. 0CD  (That’s a zero)

Where A, B, C, D, E, and F relate to the following lighthouses:

  • A. Sanibel Island Light
  • B. Cedar Key Light
  • C. Cape Canaveral Light
  • D. Pensacola Bar Beacon
  • E. Northwest Passage Light
  • F. Hillsboro Inlet Light

Now there is one more step. When the coordinates are decoded add XX.X7.012 to the WEST coordinate.

The cache is an easy find.

When you get to the cache site, you will see the light but not the house.

You can check your answers for this puzzle on Geochecker.com.
