CAUTION! A rattlesnake has
been seen near the cache so please be carefull and use a
stick/pole to poke around when looking for this
cache.
This cache is hidden in the hills of Sunol Regional
Wilderness and with nearly 7000 acres; there are plenty of
trails through varied terrain. If the entrance kiosk is staffed
(generally on weekends and holidays), there is a $4 entrance
fee.
From the visitor center the cache is nearly one mile out with a
350' elevation gain in the first ½ mile or so. The cache is located
about 120' off the trail and I would advise that you bring a
flashlight and/or stick to poke around with before you place your
hands in any dark holes or crevasses. Remember, this is rattlesnake
country! . Since the majority of the hike is in the open, bring
plenty of water if it's a hot day. Also, bikes are not allowed on
the trail adjacent to the cache.
At the conclusion of your hunt, I would strongly suggest that
you head to scenic Little Yosemite (about ¾ mile down hill)
and dangle your feet in the cool stream.
Although swimming is not allowed, you could slip and fall into a
cool, refreshing pool as I did.
Have fun, be safe and tread
lightly!
