Geocache Description:

CACHE IS NOT AT THE LISTED COORDS!

COWBOY UP - Mr. Alien!

FOR IMMEDIATE PROCESSING - T O P S E C R E T

Today, we have learned that an alien craft has crashed somewhere in the Weldon Spring Area. We are unable to confirm the exact location and must send a team to the site to verify and recover. This mission will be held in strict confidence and will remain top secret only to those with the highest clearance levels. To ensure that confidentiality is maintained, we can only verify the following facts:

  • The Verizon Radar Site at N38 46.569 / W090 46.217 confirmed the landing at 149 degrees true.
  • The NOAA Radar Site at N38 41.933 / W090 41.008 confirmed the landing at 250 degrees true
  • Distances were not known at this time but the NOAA Site had a better visual.
  • Pinpoint the landing and investigate!

UPDATE! Operation Cornhusk

Miller, Maxwell and Smith have arrived at the location and recovered the space craft. However, there was no life forms on board. The search and recovery party reported that it must be some sort of probe. Tracks led from the craft and appeared to head into the woods. A search of the area discovered that a strange gizmo was left and it seemed to be something of importance. The team couldn't get a fix on the location with their equipment but they did report it was located 1499 feet from where they found the space craft.

Shortly before we lost transmission with the team, they also mentioned the tracks headed into the woods at a bearing of 184.5 degrees true.

Your Mission

We need to recover that box and find the missing team. Do not take this lightly. It is very dangerous out there. Please take all necessary precautions to recover this box.

NOTES:

Parking was at N38 42.336 / W090 42.229 or to make it a long hike, park at Lewis and Clark Trailhead N38 41.420 / W090 43.468. The first parking will be about 3 miles RT to the final and the L&C Trailhead will be about 8 miles RT.

If you take the shorter way to the cache, you will follow old roads and bushwhack very little. However, you will pass through some tick areas. If you take the longer route, the trail will bring you close to the cache but you will still need to bushwhack a short distance.

Good Luck!
