The first little part is a bit steep, but better if you head over to the trail sign by the road. The cache is only about 120 feet from the parking spot. The cache itself is an ammo box. >>Update: ammo box stolen, went plastic :(
Have obtained signed permit from the Army Corps of Engineers, Lake Red Rock.
"Howell's Stationary Castle" is a tribute to the book and anime movie, "Howl's Moving Castle". Appropriately, the cache is located at Howell Station near Lake Red Rock. Red Rock Dam can be seen from the parking area, or drive further up 216th Place for a closer view.
Howell Station has a campground, recreation trails, and a bald eagle observation area. The cache is on our favorite grassy loop, which also connects to the Volksweg bike trail.
