Geocache Description:

It's that time of year again!
Well, actually it's not that time of year, but "that" year! "That" happens only once every four years, so here's a good excuse to spend the extra day caching and the extra evening talking about "that," especially for those of you who need calendar days for February 29.

This is our East Coast version of our event from 4 years ago in sunny Scottsdale, Arizona. Join us for the 4:29 FOOD, followed by the FLASH, then the FUEL and finally, a night cache FROLIC.
Each with its own GC code provided at each stage, it's a Quad-Fer!

NOTE: All locations end with 229 minutes as in 2-29-2012. Consider that a hint for the rest of the evening's locations. You should be finished with this event by 9, or 12 or 2. This event has the same theme as our event four years ago, however, it has new twists!

Part One: Food!
We're meeting for a chatty meet, greet, and eat (delicious hors d'oeuvres) at the world famous Glen Brook Country Club [The building, known locally as the Stroud House, named after John Stroud who built the home and lived there, is a beautiful place for enjoying a meal or a drink from the bar before or after geocaching. The view from the dining room, across the fairways to the tree and foliage-covered ridge is just stunning] in beautiful Cherry Valley. The fun begins at 4:29 (and not a minute before) when we feast on food, trade geocoins and travel bugs. Be sure to sign in and drop off TBs and geocoins at our raffle station. We will award surprise gifts to the first 2-9 geocaching teams, so arrive on time; it's all about the TIME today, not the numbers, eh, or maybe it is?

Please post a Will Attend log with the number of people from your group attending, so I can let the clubhouse know how many to expect for hors d'oeuvres. [Unimoggers will appreciate your kind donations for this part of the four-tiered (as in every four years) event]. We'll snack and chat until 6:02 when we leap into our vehicles and head to part Two: Flash (you'll be given those coordinates at this time), which begins at 6:29.

Leap to Part Two: Flash!

Be there for part two at 6:29 for the Flash photo. There's NOTHING fancy here at these coordinates, but the coordinates. This second part of this event will last somewhere around 2-29 minutes. It begins, however, at 6:29 pm when we will place a container near these coordinates. You will be given your own log sheet to sign, so bring your own writing utensil and put the completed sheet into the container. Only people who attend this Flash and have their names in the container will be able to log this event twice, because, after all, it IS LEAP DAY! Anyone else claiming the Flash photo will have their second log entry deleted.

Leap to Part Three: Fuel!
Whew! Are you keeping up with this? Next, be at the coordinates distributed at the Flash by 7:02 for fueling your cachemobile and to engage in the raffle of 2 unregistered Flash Mob geocoins from the unimoggers' private collection.

Leap to Part Four: Frolic!
Last but not least, be at the coordinates distributed at the Fuel by 7:29 for the beginning of the night cache Frolic. Sunset will be at 5:50, so it should be nice and dark by 7:29 when you get started. You may want to team up at Part One: Food! and car pool to these other parts. The night cache will require your headlights for phase one. That's the only hint we can provide you right now. So, we'll see you on February 29 for a lot of FUN!.
A Leap Year Ditty to Remember It By
Thirty days hath September, April, June and November; All the rest have thirty-one Save February, she alone Hath eight days and a score 'Til leap year gives her one day more.

BONUS!, *If you didn't know, the tradition of women romantically pursuing men in leap years began in 5th century Ireland, when St. Bridget complained to St. Patrick about the women having to wait for men to propose. Patrick finally relented and set February 29 aside as the day set aside allowing women the right to ask for a man's hand in marriage. The tradition continued in Scotland, when Queen Margaret declared in 1288 that on February 29 a woman had the right to pop the question to any man she fancied. Menfolk who refused were faced with a fine in the form of a kiss, a silk dress, or a pair of gloves given to the rejected lady. So if you're a lady in need of a husband, or pair of gloves, today's your day!
