Geocache Description:

The cache is in the National Trust Divis and Black Mountain area. There is a path most of the way but the final approach to the cache is off the path and requires a moderate climb over grassland.

The cache is a black 1.2 ltr tablock box with a log book and the usual swap items. It is situated 2.3 miles from the National Trust car park on the Divis Road - see below. The cache can be reached by using the path but there is a 5 mile circular route (follow the red arrows) around Divis mountain that goes through boggy ground for a time so stout footware is essential if you wish to do the circuit instead of returning by the path.

In 2004 the National Trust completed acquisition of Divis Mountain and most of Black mountain including its summit. Divis and Black Mountain form the dramatic backdrop to Belfast. The views from the summit stretch beyond the city itself. The Mourne mountins, Strangford and Belfast Loughs the Castlereagh Hills and the Sperrins are all visible.

The mountains comprise a mosaic of grassland, heath and bog and are home to a host of wildlife and archaeological remains.
