'Titchy' Park Life Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

The Striders: Archiving this one, I've checked and its definitely not there.
We've replaced it a couple of time but I don't think its in the right spot so we'll perhaps look at placing another one nearby but in a better hiding place.

Thanks,
The Striders!

Geocache Description:

A small cache placed in the grounds of Titchfield Park in Hucknall.

Titchfield Park was one of the main places we played as kids, although it has changed quite a bit over the past 20 years. It’s still a good place to take the kids though, with lots of playground equipment etc to keep them occupied, along with football pitches, cricket & bowling greens, Basket ball & Tennis courts and now even a skateboarding area.

The park was created on land donated by the Duke of Portland in 1914 to commemorate his silver wedding anniversary and his sons 21st birthday.
The park opened in 1922 and a War Memorial was commemorated. It was extended in 1925 by the Miners Welfare Fund.
In 1929 the Zachariah Green (a well known Healer & Herbalist) monument was moved from the Market Place in Hucknall onto Titchfield Park and still stands there today.
The park leads onto the cemetery (opened 1887) and contains headstones for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission from both World Wars as well as the great and the good of Hucknall.

The cache cannot be attempted at night as the park is locked, opening times are as below:

November to February: 6.00am - 6.00pm
March to April: 6.00am – 8.00pm
May to August: 6.00am – 10.00pm
September to October: 6.00am – 8.00pm

There is plenty of parking space on Park Drive at the following co-ordinates: N53’01.878 W001’12.189 where there is a gate onto the park.

The cache contains a log & pencils. Please don't try to remove the cache from its hiding place, just unscrew the top and leave it in situ.

Happy Hunting.
The Striders!
