Geocache Description:

Sgwd Isaf Clun-gwyn is one of a series of caches placed within the Ystradfellte Community in the Brecon Beacons. The series consists of ten caches plus, for anyone who finds all ten, a bonus cache.

About 1.7 km after its underground adventures in Porth yr Ogof, the Afon Mellte forms the spectacular waterfalls of Sgwd Uchaf Clun-gwyn and Sgwd Isaf Clun-gwyn. The latter is particularly impressive, dropping to a deep shelf and then crashing down a steep second fall before returning to the calmness of the riverbed.

If you approach the cache from the north, you will pass Sgwd Uchaf Clun-gwyn on your way to the cache. This waterfall tends to be more impressive when the water level is high. Although not quite as impressive as the Sgwd Clun-gwyn pair, Sgwd y Pannwr, just 350 m to the south, is also worth a look.

NOTE: The paths in this area are notoriously dangerous; lives have been lost! Please take care, especially in wet weather, and always wear appropriate footwear. Kids should be kept on a tight reign!

You will find a number printed on the inside front cover of the log book. You will need to make a note of this number in order to find the bonus cache.
