Rimbo hembyggdsförening minnestavla nr. 20 år 1999:
"Jättetallen vid Ekebyholm
Denna mycket grova tall, började enligt skogskonsulten Olof Eriksson att växa på Gustav Vasas tid. Den är nu, år 1999, drygt 450 år. Omkretsen på cirka en meters höjd är 290 cm.
Det berättas, att när Ekebyholms skogar skövlades under G. Östmans tid, omkring år 1920 vägrade skogshuggarna att fälla tallen. Den är nu fridlyst enligt naturminneslagen."
Jag tror att det har smugit sig in ett fel i hembygdsföreningens minnestavla. När jag mätte omkretsen år 2008 var den mer än 4 meter. Jag tvivlar på att tallen växte mer än en meter i omkrets på mindre än tio år.
Cachen är placerad några steg från tallen. Det kan vara svårt att hitta den i snö.

"The huge pine tree at Ekebyholm
According to the Forest Consultant Olof Eriksson, this huge pine tree started to grow at Gustav Vasas time. It is now, in 1999, about 450 years old. The circumference at about one meter height amounts to 2.9 m. It is told that, under the deforestation of the woods of Ekebyholm during G. Östmans time, around the year 1920, the loggers refused to chop down this pine tree. It is now protected according to the law as natural landmark."
I think there is a slight fault in the memorial plaque. When I measured the circumference in the year 2008 it was over four meters. I doubt that the pine has grown more than one meter in circumference in less than ten years.
The cache is located some steps from the pine. It could be hard to find it in snow.
