Geocache Description:

The cache is a clipbox, located in Shapley Heath Copse a few feet away from the road that used to run from Winchfield to Potbridge, called, appropriately enough, Old Potbridge Lane. It's close to where that road, and at almost the same spot the M3, cross the main railway line from Basingstoke to Woking.

It's hard to find out much about Potbridge. It's a "settlement" in the parish of Winchfield, situated immediately to the south of the M3. One can guess that it was a place where little happened, until the M3 came along and shattered its peace for ever.

You can approach the cache from several directions. There's Old Potbridge Road from Winchfield - you won't be able to drive to the cache, because the road is closed, but you can walk through on the old road. You could approach from Totters Lane and Potbridge itself, following a footpath along the north side of the M3. There's also a byway that crosses the fields from the A30. Finally, there's a footpath from Winchfield station itself, following the north side of the railway and then passing under the M3 - if you approach this way, be prepared for a long steep set of steps once you've passed under the Motorway!

There are frequent arguments as to the precise coordinates for the cache, because it's located under trees. I've checked it a couple of times and still get a similar position.
