Geocache Description:

Tree / Rock. A small twisted oak splitting a rock outcrop. A mile and a half below Pantoll or three-quarters of a mile above Muir Woods on the Dipsea Trail. The second shrine of Opening the Mountain.

Dhâranî for Removing Disasters
The Heat Mantra

A tiny chörten before this tree.

Into the woods. Maze fence gate. Young douglas fir, redwood, a new state of being. Sun on madrone: to the bare meadow knoll. (Last spring a bed of wild iris about here and this time too, a lazuli bunting.)

Philip Whalen:

Oak tree grows out of rock
Field of Lazuli Buntings, crow song.

The cache is a short distance from tree / rock. At the time this cache was placed, the bridge across Redwood Creek on the Dipsea trail was closed. Hikers were being detoured to the nearby Deer Park Fire Road, which crosses the Dipsea at various locations.

From here, continue to Lone Tree Spring.
