Nice easy cache 'n dash to the war memorial in West Calder. Wheelchair and pushchair friendly. Please take care of the busy road next to the cache.
A memorial obelisk placed in the grounds of the village library, erected in 1921. The bronze plaques name the 181 souls who perished in the Great War. The inscription reads "IN HONOURED MEMORY OF THE MEN OF THE DISTRICT WHO DIED FOR THEIR COUNTRY'S SAKE IN THE GREAT WAR. 1914 - 1919"

I decided to expand the "Lest We Forget" series into West Lothian, since a few other geocachers have been adding them to other areas. It's not until you research into these memorials that you appreciate how many lives were sacrificed to allow our generation to live the way we do.
Even though most of my new caches fall into the cache 'n dash category, I hope you will stand silently for a moment and appreciate what all these names stand for.
PLEASE NOTE: THE CACHE IS PLACED NEAR A BUSY JUNCTION, SO CARE AND STEALTH WILL BE REQUIRED DURING BUSIER TIMES OF THE DAY.
