Geocache Description:

This cache is placed in the Holtsville Ecology Center, which has an outstanding track around the the former landfill.

I first visited the Holtsville Ecology Center, looking for a JMBella cache that has since been archived. In my search it brought me to the top of the landfill. While there I realized that there was a nice view of the surounding community. You can see about 5 miles in every direction. You can get to the cache from either the westside or the eastside.Either way it is a .25 mile walk from the parking lot.there is a moderate elevation change, nice and easy.It will bring you about a 100 ft. above sea level. Also your GPSr may tell you that your only a.10 of a mile from the next cache. That would be true if you were to go down the very steep slopes of the hill, which is covered with trees and thick brush. So do yourself a favor, walk back down to the main trail before proceeding to the next cache. The Ironic part is that I found the first container of the JMBella cache that went missing in 2004.The second reason was that I carried it down to dispose of the container, which will end up in another landfill some where on L.I.Have fun!!
