Geocache Description:

Take I-10 frontage road to missile base rd

SAC 570-5 (aka CE 14, aka SEQ 570-5) is a deactivated Titan II missile silo & was the Alternate Command Post (ACP) for squadron 570

The Titan II ICBM program was developed by the US military to increase the size, strength, and speed of the nation's weapons arsenal in the 1950s and 60s. Each missile carried a single warhead, the largest in the US inventory, used liquid fuels, and was stored and launched from underground silos. They were deployed in Arkansas, Kansas, and Arizona. They were in service for over twenty years.

Construction Complete August 9th 1962
On Alert May 3rd 1963
Off Alert (Deactivated) May 21st 1984

This cache is located on State Trust Land.
The State Land Department has no problem with this activity, but they ask that participants know the following: A Recreation Permit is required to legally access State Trust Land. These permits are easily obtained by phoning (602) 364-ASLD. Remember to stay on established roads and avoid any destruction of the natural resources.
