Hilton is a very nice, well spread
out, little village complete with a ford and a turf maze (currently
under renovation). Like every village, town and city in the
UK they sent their sons (and now, of course, daughters) to serve at
sea, on land and in the air. Not all of them came back. Like almost
every settlement in the UK they have a nicely maintained war
memorial at which the fallen are remembered every year but it does
not take the usual form: it is a lychgate into the
churchyard. This cache takes you within sight of
it.
Please replace carefully in exactly the same position so
the container is out of sight. The cache is 35mm film
container and contains only a log and a pencil. Please note that
the cache is NOT inside the churchyard so please do not search in
there.
Good luck, and spare a thought for those whose names grace the
gate.
"We
will remember them."
