Olneya tesota is commonly known as Desert Ironwood
Olneya tesota is found in the Southwestern United states and Northern Mexico. It is sought after because of its very hard properties and dark color for use in decorative carvings and grips for pistols. it is also a very good wood to use if you are cooking up some steaks. It burns hot and long and adds a very good flavor to your steaks.
This cache requires you to get out of your 4x4 vehicle and stretch your legs on a short hike. Please watch out for the critters that call the desert home. I saw a Gila Monster about 200 yards from the cache. Scorpions and centipedes are known to live in and around dead wood so please be careful where you put your hands when looking for the cache. Most of all have fun.
Welcome to my playground.
