Cache was named due to its original location - with good views of the Sun Inn - however due to muggler activity it has now been moved, out of site of the pub.
A pleasant walk, on the outskirts of Dorchester. This could be a cache and Dash if you park in the nearby pub, however, there is an opportunity for a longer walk, if you park at the coordinates given below.
There is Limited parking available at N50 43.076,
W 002 26.367. Walk down past Hangman's cottage, and along the riverbank, towards the cache.
Hangman's Cottage is a beautiful example of a Dorset thatched cottage. It was believed to be the home of the towns executioner. Casts of some of the heads of his victims, can still be seen in the Dorset County Museum in Dorchester.
Walk past Johns pond, where legend has it, a person named John drowned whilst escaping from the nearby jail.The pond is part of the intricate drainage system of the nearby water meadows.
Continue along the river bank footpath, until you are near the coordinates then turn up the track on your right. The cache is in a medium clip top container.
This is the first cache that we have put out, and it was placed on Chloe's 13th birthday (Chloe is the youngest member of the Wessex Wandering Wheaten's.)
Please note this cache has been re-sited(9th August 2009) following vandalism to the old cache at previous coordinates
Please take care when replacing the cache - try to get it back in the position you found it. Out of sight of mugglers!
