This
cache is part of a series at Dutch Gap
Conservation Area, a narrow wilderness area, curving along the
James next to Henricus Park. A mostly
flat, bike & stroller friendly
gravel road runs 4 miles to the tip.
The terrain difficulty rating reflects the length of the hike;
stages and caches require less than 100 feet of
bushwhacking.
WARNING: This park
is serious about closing times--as in metal gate, chain, and
lock. Read the
sign. If you get locked in, call the
police. The hider of this cache does
not have a key!
A group of CVGA
members created the
series, comprised of four 3-stage
multi’s, offering either a short trek
(2 miles each way, 2 caches only) or a long trek, 3 miles each
way,4 caches plus a final , located by adding the
numbers found within the 4
caches). Distances are usually less
than ¾ mile between stages. Where one
multi finishes, another starts up for an enjoyable round
trip.
For the long trek and final, find caches in this
order:
Beavers
(
GC19WAR),
Birds
(
GC19Q2V),
Briars (GC19Q95), and Barges (GC1A5XG). For
the short trek, find Beavers and Barges.
Coordinates for final are
37.22. [A + B + C + D + 25], 077 21. [E
+ F + G + H + 119] The final of each of
the 4 multis will contain the numerical equivalents for 2
letters. Note: caches may be found in
any order. The suggested order creates
round trips with no backtracking.
There are also individual
caches in this park.

Hola, I am Señor Beaver! Welcome to mi casa out here in
Chesterfield County
.
I
never travel by land unless driven by necessity. You won't see me
while the park is open 'cuz I am mainly nocturnal, and subsist
chiefly on bark and twigs or the roots of water plants. I create
beaver dams both as a protection against predators, such as
coyotes
, wolves
and
bears
(oh,
my!)
, and to provide easy access to food during winter. Oh yeah, one
more thing.... Yes I like Piña Coladas and getting caught in
the rain.. I'm not much into health food - I am into champagne..
I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon and cut through all this
red-tape; At a park called Henricus, where we'll plan our
escape.
