We’d like to thank The Washers for conceiving the idea, initiating the series and inviting other cachers to add to it.
The impressive looking Church of St. Mary is one of the most important churches in the whole district. It contains a number of old and interesting relics including an elaborately carved stone lintel and tympanum dating to the Anglo-Saxon period. There is a splendid richly carved Norman font c.1160 and in the South side a medieval stained glass window dating to the early 14th Century. The church’s location, perched high on a hill, offers some magnificent views from its grounds especially to the northwest.
The cache is a camo’d 450ml Lock ‘n’ Lock type container with a logbook, pencil, sharpener and a few small swaps. Please ensure the cache is well hidden when you replace it.
Parking is available just inside the church grounds.
