For those who have never attended a COG Spring Fling let me explain
the Après. We have all heard of Après ski - now there is Après
Fling, a time when you can reminisce about the day’s experiences
and rejuvenate.
Where: Bleachers at CFB Borden
Date: May 24, 2008
Starts: 5:30 pm
Door Prize Draws: 6:30 pm
Stay or go about your business: 7:30 pm
Please note that the base is open to the public and there are no
security check points to pass through. Bleachers is the only
all-ranks facility on the base (which is open to the Public).
Bleachers Restaurant carries an extensive menu featuring a large
variety of food items. They have a seating capacity of 130 reserved
for our group. Weather permitting there is also a 50-seat patio
also for our use. There is an ATM for your convenience and credit
cards are accepted.
Labatt is providing door
prizes!!!!
.
New this year is table
assignments to make sure that every available seat is used. Nawty
will start assigning tables as Will Attend logs are posted. If
several geo-teams wish to sit together consider entering one Will
Attend log for your entire party and please name all the geo-teams.
Once we reach 130 attendees, we will maintain a stand-by list.
If you are attending the Fling please confirm your reservation
with Nawty there and pick up your table assignment. If the weather
permits, Nawty will be taking reservations for the outdoor patio at
the Fling.
This event is Family friendly, all are welcome (sorry no pets).
We’re sure this will not be an issue; however, they will not allow
children to stay past 9 pm.
After a day on the trails this is a good opportunity to
rejuvenate before traveling home, setting up camp or finding local
caches. For those who had a scheduling conflict and could not
attend COG Spring Fling IV, this is your chance to find out what
you missed.
The door prize draws will take place at about 7:00 p.m. After
the door prize draws you are free to finish your food and drink and
take care of business. You will easily have 2 more hours of
daylight to find caches, get home or set up camp.
Camp Borden is historically known as the birthplace of the Royal
Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and 16 Wing. Today it is home to the
Canadian Forces Support Training Group (CFSTG) and houses the
majority of the schools in the CF. Borden also has two public
museums; an armour museum and 16 Wing Air Force museum.
Borden is located next to the town of Angus approximately 16 km
west of Barrie, along Highway 90 and approximately 10km north of
the town of Alliston. There are only two entrances onto the
base; the Angus gate at the west end of Hwy 90, and the south gate
at the north end of County Road 15.
This base is also the home of the Canadian Forces Military
Police Academy (CFMPA). This means that all posted speed limits are
strictly enforced.
Place this event on your watch-list to keep posted about any
updates.
