The Letter "R" Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

2Wheel'in: Visited this one today based on the 3 relatively recent DNF's...it's gone, again. Decided to "Archive" rather than replace - "R" had a good run, it was in place for about 7 1/2 years, and had 287 Finds and 28 DNF's. Many thanks to all who hunted it, I enjoyed reading your logs.

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Easily accessible from abundant parking, and stealth will be necessary at certain times. Common sense retrieval and replacement will help to ensure cache longevity. Going back to your vehicle to sign the log, rather than stand in the open might be a good idea.

Baron Cameron Park is located at the intersection of Wiehle Avenue and Baron Cameron Avenue in Reston, Virginia. It is located in a moderately developed area in the Hunter Mill Supervisory District. It is a District Park, 60 acres in size. The Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) leases the 60 acres for public recreational use.

The Northern Virginia Geocaching Organization (NoVAGO) negotiated long and hard to obtain approval for geocaching on FCPA park land, and that goal was just recently achieved. Many thanks to the FCPA for supporting geocaching as a legitimate use of park lands. My first and probably only “urban” cache - placed to celebrate the publishing of the FCPA guidelines.

The container does not have room for a pen/pencil, only a log - please bring your own writing utensil, and remember to replace the container exactly as found. I've placed a "Kid Friendly" attribute on the cache page...the cache will not be of interest to kids, but the nearby amenities might.

FCPA Parks are open dawn to dusk, do NOT hunt this cache at night!

NOTICE: Please be respectful of the posted park hours. If you enter the park after hours you are trespassing. If you are stopped you can be ticketed or arrested and will put the future of geocaching in the parks in jeopardy.
