Geocache Description:

"Schut, Every Town Needs a Kids' Cache" is located in Hollandtown at one of the former sites of the annual Schut, a traditonal Dutch contest involving shooting a target off an elevated mounting. This is one of several new traditional kid-friendly caches being placed by Sagasu in response to recent comments about the abundance of puzzle caches in our area and the need to continue to have a balance of traditional and kid-friendly caches. Hollandtown is known for Van Abel's restaurant and, according to Marc_54140, their chicken boyah. There is little else there but a cheese processing plant to be known for, but the traditional Dutch "Schut" that began in 1850 has been held there annually for 157 years and may be the most unique and distinctive community activity identified with the town. I even remember hearing live radio broadcasts at the Schut in previous years. This cache is kid-friendly with 1.5 difficulty and terrain with a slight uphill walk from roadside parking on Cty. Tk. CE to the cache location. It is also winter-friendly even with the current near-record snow accumulaton at the time of placement. The small cache container contains some nice trade and swag items for kids, a log and pencil, and a golden dollar coin for the first kid-to-find. Please be sure to leave the cache container well concealed in the hide location. Congratulations to JimandLinda for the FTF on March 9!
