Welcome to Lake Stanley Draper! Opened in 1963, this artificial lake has 34 miles of shoreline and 2,900 surface acres. It is operated by the City of Oklahoma City and is utilized as a municipal water supply and for recreational purposes.

Stanley Draper, one of the greatest "city builders" this country has yet produced, was born in Lasker, North Carolina, and came to Oklahoma City in 1919 possessed of the enthusiasm, vision, and determination so evident in those early pioneers. He foresaw the coming of the space age and was determined that Oklahoma City should become a great metropolitan scientific, cultural, and educational center. In his forty-eight years with the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, forty of which were spent as its chief executive officer, Mr. Draper provided the dream, the plan, and the encouragement for innumerable civic undertakings which resulted in the economic and cultural betterment of the city and the state.
Contained in a camouflaged ammo box, this cache is large enough for items of trade, Travel Bugs and Geocoins. The location is in a shady spot, but watch out for bugs, sharp pointy thorns and some of those poison plants that are commonplace amongst Oklahoma vegetation. There is dirt parking nearby, but try not to be too conspicuous to the nearby highway traffic. The beginning terrain is steep, and then you will have to traverse uneven ground to get in to the cache, but once there, you will have found the treasure.
There are numerous thorns in the area, but which direction you come in will determine how many of them you encounter. Believe it or not, there is a relatively easy way in.
Please put the cache container back in its hiding place. Cachers have too often left it sitting out in the open. Thanks!
