La Torre de vigía y defensa que formaba parte de la antigua masía de Ca n'Alzina, derruida en el año 1987, fué construida durante el siglo XVI, cuando la casa era propiedad de la familia Matheu. Es de planta absidal (semicircular por un lado y rectangular por el otro) lo que la hace singular al existir muy pocas construcciones de estas características. Tiene diversas ventanas enmarcadas en piedra y restos de almenas.

Un poco de historia nunca viene mal, por ello, os daré una breve explicación del porqué de la existencia de estas Torres:

En la época de sus construcciones, a mediados del siglo XVI, eran frecuentes los ataques de piratas a nuestra costa, uno de ellos el 25 de Junio de 1564 en el cual 16 galeras fondearon en la desembocadura del rio Besós, atacando Sant Adrià y Badalona, quemaron tierras, saquearon casas y cautivaron a una mujer y dos niños. Existe el propio testimonio de Elionor Mascaró, mujer de Joan Matheu (propietario de la masía y la torre), que en su testamento del 14 de Mayo de 1631 aporta 20 libras para el rescate de su hijastro Gabriel Matheu, el cual tenían los moros secuestrado en Argel.

The lookout tower and defense as part of the former farmhouse Ca n'Alzina, demolished in 1987, was built during the sixteenth century, when the house was owned by the family Matheu. It plant absidal (semi-circular and rectangular one hand on the other) that makes it unique in that there are very few buildings of this type. It has several windows framed in stone and remnants of battlements.

A bit of history is never wrong, therefore, I will give you a brief explanation of why the existence of these Towers:

At the time of its construction, in the mid-sixteenth century, were frequent attacks by pirates on our coast, one of them on June 25, 1564 in which 16 galleys anchored in the River Besós attacking Sant Adrià and Badalona , lands burned, looted houses and captured a woman and two children.
