Geocache Description:

A scenic tour of Gypsum Creek

A lovely Sunday afternoon in March brought me here. While exploring the area, I discovered something I had never seen in Wichita, crystals and lots of them. At first, I thought it was broken glass, but closer examination revealed they were naturally occuring crystals.

Now before there is a mad stampede of gem collectors, I think they are probably salt crystals, but it is still really cool. Throughtout this cache, you will have several chances to see them up close.

Additionally, the creek flows on and through bedrock thus making it a fitting member of the This Creek Rocks family of Badd Companie caches. It has all the elements you have come to expect: long hikes, unusual (patent pending) waypoint, and hopefully taking you someplace interesting and scenic.

Like most of my multi's, you will feel like you deserve credit for three or four finds by the time you are done.

Stage One: a likely frog pond. Here you are looking for a Badd Companie Bazooka: a large diameter PVC pipe scrap I found in the area. The coords are written on it in several places with a red sharpie. There is also a Badd Companie brick (red) nearby in case the Bazooka is reclaimed by its disposer.

Stage Two: a scenic view inspite of the close proximity of the turnpike. Here you are looking for a Badd Companie 2" by 4". Nearby is an abandoned storm sewer. The 2" X 4" is NOT in the storm drain, but IT WAS ALL I COULD DO TO NOT PUT IT THERE (and would have except the 2" X 4" is not long enough).

Stage Three: another new item in the Badd Companie product line. The Badd Companie Cammo Skateboard. It is a real skateboard but has no wheels. I found it under the bridge and decided it would be perfect. In case someone reclaims it to use as a snow board, the co-ordinates are also on a piece of white trash nearby.

Stage Four: a smallish rubbermaid container coated with very crummy cammo duct tape. It contains a log book, pen, and various small swag. Unfortunately, it is a little hard to get to, thus the four terrain rating. The difficulty should keep muggles away as well.

None of the stages are difficult to find. If you cannot find one of the intermediate stages, it is because it has been impressed into service by some of the muggles in the area, who we hope are oblivious to the mysterious numbers written in red on the item.

Estimated hiking distance is about two miles with stream crossing(s). The closest parking to the first stage is not the best parking for the whole cache. A better spot is on the road going to the new transfer station (the last street going south that is west of the turnpike underpass on Harry).
