Object Kooldert
Het object is 5.4 ha groot en behoort tot de zeldzame wijstgronden. Het gebied bestaat uit kleine weilandjes. In die landjes hebben koeien gelopen. Om die koeien wel in de weide te houden werden langs de rand allemaal houtsingels aangelegd. In deze singels werd regelmatig gezaagd. Het hout kon men goed gebruiken. Van de kleine takken maakte men een hek, een ril. Kooldert was een normaal boerenlandschap, maar omdat die houtsingels veel ruimte in beslag namen en het hout niet meer nodig was, zijn al die landschappen langzaam verdwenen. Kooldert is over gebleven, als één van de weinigen.
In dit oud boerenlandschap komen verschillende vogels voor. Dankzij de rillen is er veel beschutting. Op verschillende plaatsen kun je Bosrietzangers tegenkomen, ook broeden er Steenuilen. Met een beetje geluk kom je in de kleinschalige akkertjes een Patrijs tegen. ’s Winters zitten in de elzenbomen Kneutjes en ook Kepen laten van zich horen. Kooldert is dankzij al dat werk en de landbouw een schitterend gebiedje.

Object Kooldert
The object is 5,4 ha wide and belongs to the rare ‘wijstgronden’.
The area consists out of small pastures. In the pastures cows have walked around. To keep the cows on the pastures wood banks have been build. These wood banks where sawed regularly, because the wood could be well used. Fences where made out of small branches. Kooldert was a normal agricultural landscape, but due to the fact that the wood banks took a lot of space and the wood was not needed anymore, the landscape has slowly disappeared. Kooldert remained as one of the few.
In this agricultural landscape lots of birds occur. Thanks to the wooden fences made out of small branches there is a lot of protection. At several places you can come across the Reed warbler, and also the Little Owl brood here. With a little luck you come across the Partridge in these small-scale fields. During the winter the Linnet and Brambling show their presence in the alders. Thanks to all the work and agriculture, Kooldert is a magnificent area.
