Edith Falls near the Chaguaramas Golf Course in Tucker Valley.
Travel west from Port-of-Spain on the Western Main Road to Chaguaramas, turn right at co-ordinate N10 41.400 W61 36.573 into Tucker Valley. Follow the road until you see the Chaguaramas Golf Course sign on the left at co-ordinate N10 42.810 W61 36.566. You follow this road through the golf course until you reach the parking area at co-ordinate N10 43.630 W61 37.260. You can purchase a refreshing drink and a snack at the golf course club house (remember to dispose of your trash properly in the bins and not on the trails or in nature).
You walk back on the road to co-ordinate N10 43.555 W61 37.220 where the trail starts on your right hand side, it passes through bamboo patches first and later various other trees. There are signs on some of the trees from the CDA explaining the name of the tree and some information about it. Follow the trail upto the waterfall, until you reach the cache co-ordinate, very close to the base of the falls. Be careful the stones on the last part of the trail can be slippery especially during the rainy season when the falls and the small river have more water in them. During the dry season the falls reduce to a small trickle. But it can still be refreshing to take a shower under them. Due to the high rock formation from which the falls are dropping down and the surrounding tree canopy, it may be difficult to get an extremelt accurate gps reading right under the falls. You may wish to use the hint, or the pictures on this webpage to find the exact cache location. Pay attention to those uploaded by Temdes and the note on Jan 2012. The hike to the cache may take approximately 45 minutes (depending on your level of fitness) for the most part the trail is relatively flat, well maintained and easy. The last part however is a bit of a steep climb to the waterfall. Be careful on the rocks and as always respect nature and/or any animals (insects/reptiles) you may encounter on your path.
The original cache was lost/destroyed 3 times, most likely due to a landslide in a heavy rainy season. The cache has been recreated a 4th time and relocated slightly to a better location by Temdes. Many thanks for your assistance! You are looking for a medium size plastic container. It contains a playing card, 2 marbles, a pin tennis/cricket, a pin "Vancouver 2010". Many thanks to Temdes. If you wish to take any item from the cache, please also place something back. Please sign the log book with your name, date of visit and some short comment, please do not remove the log book from the cache.
Remember to keep T&T beautiful! Carry a plastic bag to pick up any trash you may find allong your way and dispose of it properly after your hike has finished.
