Hike or Float -- it is up to
you.
While searching for a cache site, I felt compelled to hide a cache
here also. I didn't plan to get this close to Harris Lake, but the
water looked so inviting. Enjoy a hike and stop for a moment to
take in the view. For the truly adventurious, hike another 100 yds
up the cove to see a good deal of beaver construction.
The cache is located on NC Gamelands, so use caution (wear blaze
orange) during hunting season or search on Sundays. From the
parking area, it is a 1.3 mile round-trip hike. Most of the hike is
along a trail with about 150 yards of bushwacking after the trail
peters out. The trail can be a bit muddy after rains, so time your
visit or wear boots.
If you are so inclined, you can take a boat to within about 90' of
the cache. I think the hike would be easier but if you wish to
float to this cache try the landing coordinates below.
The container is a round, medium sized, lock-n-lock with a touch of
camouflage.
While searching for this hiding spot, I heard a "dear" hunter. It
sounded like he got one.
