Geocache Description:

A small park and monument commemorating the conversion of Pennacook Chief Passaconaway.

This should be a quick find in a tiny little park in Lowell. Multiple historic artifacts/monuments are within feet of each other here.

The largest and most imposing is the Pawtucket gatehouse and it's associated dam. Once the largest dam in the world, it held the title for about 40 years (I believe, can't find my sources at the moment). When the river is high, the dam becomes a huge waterfall, quite neat.

Second is a memorial to all the brave men and women and Pawtucketville who fought and fell to defend the liberties of the people of this country. A nice stone monolith and courtyard overlooks the river here.

Finally we come to a boulder commemorating the conversion to christianity of Passaconaway, the Pennacook Indian Chief. He lived near the Pawtuckett Falls in Lowell and now a rock bearing his name hides a small geocache.

It's a small metal container, hidden out of sight, you may have to feel for this one. There's room enough for small trade item, it's only 5"x3"x1.5" so keep it compact.
