Near Big White Ski area
This cache has been placed as a tribute to "Larry, Curly and Moe", three locals at Big white.
The cutblock in which the cache is placed can be accessed during the summer via 2John Road. While it is possible to drive to within 300 meters, a high clearance 4x4 will be required as the road has been deactivated. Please be aware that you are in bear country - look for signs of recent activity, avoid areas that could be feeding areas, and try not to travel alone.
To access in winter, you can ski / board to the cache. You can also, snowshoe or using alpine touring / telemark / split board, (with climbing skins) reach the cache from the bottom; a lift pass is not required. From the summit at Gem Lake, procede north (losing elevation) towards co-ords N 49*44.894' W 118*56.772' and follow the ridgeline to a sign at N 49*45.206' W 118*56.864'. This ridgeline will offer views of the backside of Big White Mountain, its ecological reserve and other ski resorts in our valley. (This is also an excellent summer hike!) However, I must emphasize that it is critical to follow the flagging/ signs and NOT ski off the main trail. Its is VERY easy to get lost here!!! Upon reaching the cutblock, find the cache and then follow the trail back to "Moonlight Run", entering Big White and skiing back to the Gem Lake parking area.
The waypoints following the "trail" I have supplied are approximate, but with all the flagging and skier/boarder use it should be fairly easy to follow.
