Geocache Description:

This cache is part of the FlatlandsCoffeeClutch (FCC) series of caches. FlatlandersCoffeeClutch
It is hidden in Beulah Park Nature area. Parking coordinates are below.

Coffee was not at first used as a beverage, but eaten in the form of a paste. The coffee plant originated on the plateaus of central Ethiopia where it still grows wild. Arab traders brought the beans from Ethiopia across the Red Sea to Yemen around the 6th Century A.D.

There are many superstitions about coffee:
  • One superstition says you can learn much by observing the movement of the coffee bubbles on the surface of a cup. If the bubbles float towards the drinker, prosperous times lie ahead; if they retreat, hard times are promised.

  • Romanians believe you can see a person’s future in coffee grounds.

  • Some people believe they must drink out of the same coffee mug for fear that something dreadful might happen that day if they dare to drink coffee out of a different cup.

  • Another superstition claims if you leave bread and coffee under a house, it will prevent ghosts from calling.

  • Some Geocachers believe drinking 13 cups of coffee before Geocaching will increase their chances of finding a micro cache (Hmmm…I don’t know where this superstition originated. If I did that, I’d be awake for 3 days and I probably still wouldn’t find the cache! And…if I did find the cache, my hands would be shaking so bad I wouldn’t be able to sign the log!)
