Geocache Description:

Short wander along the Bridgewater canal towing path.

Sam was our black cat and our first pet together, He was a stray we rehomed from Leigh cat and dogs home, in 1998 soon after we bought and moved onto the boat. He lived with us all the time we were living in the south-east. When we were back up in the North west we used to travel up to this spot for a weekend and tie-up in front of this tree and enjoy the views across the mersey valley. Sam used to climb the tree and sit in the branches and enjoy the view, and once we had got Cassie from the same rescue centre, she had to make do with sitting on the towpath.

From here you can see Runcorn, St.helens, Billinge lump, Fiddlers Ferry Power station, Angelzarke moor, Rivington pike, Winter hill and Daresbury laboratory. In the foreground the Chester- Warrington railway passes over the West coast Main line. Sam died 2 years ago and is missed by all of us. This cache has been placed to remember the black cat that used to travel with us and also to replace a previous cache(Dr Bunsen Burners muppet laboratory) which was placed nearby.
