In Case of Emergency (ICE) is located close to the shore of Winchell Lake in Winchell Coulee just south of Water Valley, Alberta.
In Case of Emergency (ICE) is a small camo LnL container with the usual items (Logbook, Pencil, Sharpener) Along with a selection of items usefull "In Case of Emergency" when out hiking. This cache was set up by the Thorncliffe Greenview 58th Venturers Group from Calgary. We are fortunate to frequently camp in the area on our community association land.
Winchell Lake is an Enviromental Reserve in the County of Mountain View in the beautifull Alberta Foothills. It can be reached off Highway 22. Take Highway 579 west to Water Valley. At the 4-way stop head south on Range Road 52 till you reach TWP RD 290A. Head East again till you find the intersection of TWP RD 290 & TWP RD 29 OF. This is an unmaintained road heading to Winchell Lake. It is a short road but it could prove to be a bit muddy to navigate in the spring thaw.
Watch out for the local Moose and Beavers. Be sure to bring your fishing pole in the summer or winter if you like fishing for "ICE".

Area History:
In what is now called Winchell Coulee, the Winchell’s became one of the first families to homestead when they set up one of the first sawmills in the area. Grandma Winchell lived in the original log home into the 1980’s and in 1978 the province installed power to the home in honour of her 100th birthday.
