Geocache Description:

I had heard about this tower a while ago but I had never visited it before coming here to set the cache. What a wonderful surprise I got when we found it! I just think it is so charming! I won’t say anything else - I’ll just let you find out for yourselves.

The tower was constructed as part of the woodland designed landscape stretching out from Cullaloe farmhouse, but was built after the nearby temple - in the late 19th century, It stands on the top of a rocky outcrop and would have had been an obvious landmark in the area as well as giving good views towards the Firth of Forth, however, the trees planted here have now grown and hide the tower. Park at N56 05.222 W003 18.460. Now for the bad news - I have no idea of how to get to it! We came a very convoluted way, following a mixture of bulldozed-type tracks and then deer-type paths through the woods from the temple, but at the very last minute discovered that the tower lies at the side of a large, wide (but very muddy!) track. Where it starts I don’t know, but I suspect that it MAY end at the electricity-type station which you pass on the way to the temple. You could try going up that way on your way back from the temple. Or you could head straight up the hill from the track at the bottom once you are right angles to it. Whatever way you choose please be careful - the tower is at the top of a steep slope and if you have children with you be particularly vigilant. There is a wicked looking mountain bike track falling down the top of the slope to the east of the cache which cheetah boy desperately wanted to ascend/descend but it would have been far too dangerous so watch out for that and don‘t let your progeny near it! The cache is NOT hidden on the slope so there is no need to look anywhere on it.Cache contents at time of placing: CD-R pack, felt tips, puzzle book, toy octopus, “D” batteries, tissues, childrens dominoes, toy motorbike.
