The Jackson Area Geocachers will be hosting this year's annual CITO Event at Pickwick Landing State Park.

Come join in on the fun as we give back to our beautiful state and fantastic state parks system.

Updated 04/16/2008: On Saturday we will meet for breakfast around 8:00 a.m.. After the breakfast stage we will assemble at the park at 9:00 a.m. to gather and dispense supplies, then move to the campgrounds and CITO location on the trail. We have trash bags and gloves available but please provide any other clean up tools that you personally prefer. After the CITO is complete we will meet up with the Friends of the Park for lunch.

We look forward to seeing everyone there to promote Geocaching within the state parks of Tennessee and to give back to the environment that we all enjoy.

Pickwick Landing State Park is located just south of Pickwick Dam, 12 miles south of Savannah, TN., in Hardin County. The lake and river offer excellent fishing, boating, swimming, and a marina. Accommodations on the park include a modern Inn and Restaurant, cabins, and camping. There is also a beautiful and challenging golf course. The park contains 1,400 acres of forrested hills and hollows. There is a 2.8 mile trail to explore and enjoy the wildlife and plant life around the lake. Picnicking, swimming, and play fields are also available.

Pickwick Landing was a riverboat stop dating from the 1840's. In the 1930's during the depression, the site was chosen for one of the Tennessee Valley Authority's dams on the Tennessee River. What compromises the park today was once the living area for the TVA construction crews and their families. The TVA village, better known as Pickwick Village was located where the Post Office, Park Office, and day use area are now located. A Boy Scout Lodge was located where the old inn is located. The State of Tennessee puchased all 681 acres of Pickwick from TVA in 1969. Since that time additional land has been bought to enlarge the park.
