In the Cobb Estate area of Altadena. Requires a hillside scramble up a few hundred feet. Not long but moderately steep; good boots and/or hiking pole recommended.
*** Mt. Eggplant *** Her Highness the Eggplant Princess welcomes you to her retreat of solitude. She asks only that you enjoy the view, preserve this location, and ponder briefly the awesome mystical beauty of that most royal of vegetables, the Eggplant! Vive la Aubergine! GZ is near the summit of this splendid hilltop and can be reached from a couple of directions. It's not quite as pretty as it once was before the firebreak was bulldozed over the mountain in 2009, but it still provides a great view on a clear day. Most direct approach is from the Altadena Crest trail where it crosses the northward ascending ridge. Route is mostly without trail so watch your footing going up and down. Near the top, the cache is somewhat concealed but should not be too hard to find. GZ is a bit NW of the summit near a deer trail. Use care when hunting because there are some steep drop offs not too far away. Small oversized bison container containing log sheet, hanging in a bush; BYOP. Please conceal it from being seen by non-cachers if possible. Have fun and enjoy the view!
