Barken är en sjö i Dalarnas län som består av två sammanhängande
långsmala sjöar; Södra och Norra Barken. Sjön är belägen 100 meter
över havet och utgör en area på 34 km². Största djupet är i Norra
Barken och är 37 meter. Sjön avvattnas genom Kolbäcksån till
Mälaren. Genom Strömsholms kanal har sjön segelbar förbindelse med
Mälaren.
Namnet (1654 Nörrebarken, Södrebarken) är troligen bildat
till ett ord barki 'strupe', som i så fall syftar på den
förträngning vid byn Nor som delar sjön i två delar. Rastahyttan
blev utsedd till Sveriges vackraste rastplats år 1992. Barken is a
lake in Darlicarlia county with consists of two "longthin" lakes,
the south and the north Barken. Barken has an available to sail to
Mälaren and the sea through Strömsholms canal. The name "Barken" is
probably bunded to a word barki "throat"who aim on the distortion
at the village Nor which divides the lake in two parts. Rastahyttan
was appointed to the most beautiful lay-by in Sweden
1992.
