Geocache Description:

Selmeston Circular - # 4

Selmeston Circular is a series of 24 ‘micro’ caches spread over a circular walk of about 9 to 10 miles east of Lewes in East Sussex. The caches are made up of 23 traditional caches and a bonus. Bonus coords can be found in #8 (northing) and #14 (easting). The walk is intended to be circular and the caches done in numerical order. However, they can be done individually and in any order if you wish. All the hides are pretty easy, especially with the clues.

Most of the footpaths are clearly marked but one or two are not. It is suggested that you take a decent map with you and/or your PDA with mapping software. The cache page descriptions will provide you with some direction where necessary. However, if you are in any doubt then I suggest you walk around the edges of relevant fields.

Dogs are allowed throughout but there is livestock around so they should be kept on a lead where appropriate. Unfortunately not all stiles are dog friendly.

There are two railway lines to cross as well as some roads. There are a couple of stretches that require you to walk a short way along the roads so please ensure that you take care and keep a close eye on children and dogs.

It can be wet and muddy under foot so a good pair of walking boots or wellies will be required.

There is no pen or pencil in any of the caches so please bring your own

Selmeston Circular - # 4

The map suggests that the footpath cuts diagonally across the field from #3. However, I saw no evidence of the path but still walked where the map suggested. The map also suggests that the path cuts to the west just before #4 but, again, I saw no evidence of that. I continued a little further to the north and found a gate which seemed to get me back on track.
