The container is a green ammo can. Please feel free to take something, even if you don’t have anything to trade. Original cache contents include wristbands from various organizations (ASPCA, Livestrong, Rainforest, etc.), CITO bag, Red Cross pins.
In order to keep people on the trail for as long as possible in this nice, natural park, there is a simple puzzle component to this cache. (Part 2 of this cache is about 300' off trail from the listed coordinates so that it is not easily seen from the main trail by casual passersby.)
You can reach the coordinates listed above by staying on the path. When you get to the coordinates, find the year of a mode of transportation listed nearby and perform the following calculations:
To the latitude, add the sum of:
(the 2nd number of the year * the 3rd) – (the 2nd * the 4th) + (the 1st * the 4th).
i.e.
Year "1884"
(8*8)-(8*4)+(1*4)=36 => 14.521+36=14.557 (New coordinate)
From the longitude, subtract the sum of:
(the 3rd number of the year * the 4th) – the 1st - the 2nd.
