This cache is part of a series of caches placed by New Mexico
Geocachers in a cooperative effort with New Mexico State Parks
(NMSP) to celebrate New Mexico State Parks 75th Anniversary. A
cache has been placed in each of the 34 state parks around New
Mexico.
Rolling hills studded with piñon and juniper trees encircle the
7-mile long lake, which is stocked with trout and catfish. The lake
is popular for boating, year-round fishing, wildlife watching and
hiking.
Be sure to check the following points of interest while you are
there.
* Bluewater Dam. The area above the dam allows a beautiful
bird’s eye view of the lake, the surrounding Zuni mountains,
and the 80ft dam.
* Bluewater Creek canyon. Explore the 1.5 mile trail down in the
canyon. While in the canyon enjoy a beautiful scenic walk. A
excellent area to watch wildlife & birds.
* The Mining Museum in Grants. The self-guided tour is a unique
opportunity to see, touch, fell and absorb the atmosphere of the
under-ground mining world.
Since this cache is located within the State Park system, a Day Use
or Annual Pass, which can be obtained from any State Park, will be
required.
If you see any of the Park's staff while you are there, be sure
to let them know you are a Geocacher.
Placed with permission.
