These caches are at Stanmore Country park they are all easy but,
BEWARE OF MUGGLES.
Stanmore Country Park has a mixture of wooded and meadowed areas. These provide an ideal habitat for small mammals, such as bank and field voles, rabbits and foxes. A variety of birds feed and nest in the country park, including tawny owls, sparrow hawks and green woodpeckers. Stanmore has an excellent network of pathways, which are all on level ground. This makes the park an ideal terrain for pushchairs and wheelchairs alike. There is a picnic area near to the main free car park.
History of the site
An old Royal Air Force training camp, reclaimed to 80 acres of woodland and meadow. Between 1939 and 1963 Stanmore was an RAF camp where pilots did their basic training, providing accommodation for 3500 recruits and 800 staff. The only original building now remaining is the boiler house chimney stack, which now forms part of the RAF memorial to those killed who were stationed at the camp. Other buildings from the RAF base still remain and have been converted to industrial units outside of the country park.
