Geocache Description:

A nice walk through a pretty pine forest leads you to a regular sized lock-n-lock container.

Follow a short trail from the parking area to cross Head of the Bay Road and pick up the trail to the cache. Trail head coordinates are provided under additional waypoints.

This cache will bring you through a lovely small forest of tall pines. After placing Lyman Reserve: Bay Side Beach, I decided that the pine forested part of this area was pretty enough to deserve a cache of its own. You will need to go about 150 feet off trail with only light bushwhacking.

Formerly a private fishing camp dating back to 1867, the 210-acre Theodore Lyman Reserve sits at the mouth of Red Brook on Buttermilk Bay. Lyman was a naturalist who worked to protect Red Brook by purchasing parcels of land on both of its sides over a 30 year period. The Reserve is open from sunrise to sunset daily.

Thanks to Iceland and Z-gang, whose now archived Buttermilk Bay Cache (GCGH42) first introduced me to this lovely area.
